Een vroeg decembercadeautje uit Engeland dit jaar! Deze fijne recensie van mijn debuutalbum Sonorités de Paris in het winternummer van International Piano.
‘a worthwhile release […] from a pianist of real character and imagination’
De recensie:
‘Sonorités de Paris’ is a generous and attractive album of French and Belgian repertoire from Florian Verweij, with Franck’s Prélude, aria et final as the central work, coupled with some enticing rarities by Roger-Ducasse, along with music by Lili Boulanger (Thème et variations) and Fauré (Romances sans paroles, Op 17). The revelations for me were two Roger-Ducasse pieces from 1917-18: Sonorités and Rythmes (the latter dedicated to Blanche Selva) – full of colour and harmonic invention. The whole programme is sensitively played by Verweij and in the Franck he unfolds the arching lines of the Prélude with admirable attention to balance and voicing, the Aria is fluid, and the rumbling urgency (and dreamlike close) of the Final is very well managed. A rewarding performance, which – along with the rest of the programme – makes for a worthwhile release from a pianist of real character and imagination (Gutman Records CD241).’ – Nigel Simeone
