'velvety playing, in which he impressed with the quality of his phrasing and toucher'
Dutch classical music magazine De Nieuwe Muze on Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto no. 2 with Musica Den Haag conducted by Pim Cuijpers: 'It was in good hands with the young, gifted Dutch pianist Florian Verweij. Right at the onset of the famous chords there was that bronze sound that fits this composer so well. The soloist let them increase in intensity beautifully before the orchestra entered. His interpretation of tempo was also beautiful: this was truly a moderato. Fortunately he was not looking for muscle, but besides alert playing he did have the necessary power to do justice to the climax halfway through the first movement.'
